| Great drive. Very easy process. Performed a hot swap using the latest version of CHIMP on a console softmodded with Rocky 5's UnleashX. I recommend the following adapter, sold by goonyumstore on Ebay, which worked very well for me: https://www.ebay.com/itm/PATA-IDE-to-Serial-ATA-SATA-Adapter-Converter-Card-for-3-5-2-5-HDD-DVD/321351296306?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I also recommend the following tutorial by MrMario2011: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW6QsGXTrFQ&t=1609s One caveat: put electrical tape between your adapter and your new hard drive. If the two come into contact while the system is powered (which can happen easily when you are trying to plug in the IDE cable necessary for the hot swap) it may short, shutting off your system and potentially causing damage to your drive, adapter, or both. I had to start over with a new drive and a new adapter after this happened to me. Furthermore, you can do the hot swap after you've booted up CHIMP, before you've done anything with it, rather than performing it in the dashboard. This is a lot easier as it doesn't require the precise timing it normally does when you do the hot swap in the dashboard. Good luck! |
