The HDD is a 2.5" sata laptop drive using a generic IDE to SATA adapter, and I used an 80 pin IDE cable because I heard it won't work with 40 pin. Just out of curiosity I swapped it back to a 40 IDE cable to see if it would work, it did indeed work. I'm assuming it used less power being a 2.5" drive and not 3.5". Everything seems to work, though its a bit slower to boot up to the dashboard but games load pretty quick as usual. Not sure if its the large size of the HDD that causes it or the IDE to SATA adapter that's slowing it at boot. The drive is fairly quiet and doesn't get too hot. |
