Xbox manufacture date was in 2005, so I am assuming it is version 1.6b. I initially tried using xboxhdm 1.9 but unfortunately I was unable to lock it due to my computers BIOS, however Chimp worked just fine in order to lock the drive. You don't even need a molex splitter just use the power cable from your desktop to power the new drive, but you have to make sure you plug in the IDE from the Xbox DVD drive before the Xbox loads the chimp Linux boot screen. Drive has given me no problems, is fairly quiet (can only hear it if there is no other noise), FTP transfers are fast, and runs at ~47 C. Got the drive in like new condition from Amazon, seller was GWTECHPARTS. |
