This is one sweet drive! Fitted a couple of 250GB versions to friends' boxes, and was so impressed by how quiet they ran, changed my 320GB Seagata Barracuda for one of these. In XBMC with the HDD settings set to quiet, this thing is inaudible even up close. Heat is also lower, so much so that the CPU temp now hardly goes over 48C, even with the fan idling at 2%. The Seagate put out more heat, so this drive is perfect if you're looking for a drive to compliment a media centre.
PS in my mind, there is no need to pay the extra for the Cinemastar version, as its basically the same drive, and quiet enough without paying twice the price. |
