The drive locked perfectly, but I had to disable the drive detection in the BIOS of my PC. The BootCD found the HD anyway, so that was no problem.
I had one really weird problem though: my DVD player stopped working properly. It stopped reading my CD-RW's, and even the original(!!) Burnout:Revenge disc refused to load; the XBox crashed during the startup-screen of Burnout.
When I reconnected the original HD, everything worked fine, so it had to be caused by the new Maxtor. I reformatted the partitions in UnleashX (AID version), and then everything worked like a charm :-) Pretty strange if you ask me, a faulty formatted partition (or even partitions?) by xboxhdm can apparently cause the DVD player to function improperly :-|
Anyway, be careful when using xboxhdm, you might need to reformat some partitions in another program.
The drive performes very well, nice fast savegame loads, and really fast (full) game loads from harddisk. It is pretty quiet, but not whisper-quiet. Temps are ok, 42 degrees Celsius (108 degrees Fahrenheit) in XBMC, after half an hour stressing.
All in all a great drive for me, just had to deal with a few start-up problems :-) |
