LAPTOP DRIVE --helpful for those looking specifically for 2.5" form factor.
Rather finicky drive until you get it working. This worked for me: use atapwd to set user password "TEAMASSEMBLY" or similar. Set security level to High. Use unlockx to set correct user password. unlockx will report "Not Lockable"--ignore this. Use lock function and reboot and drive should work. Email for more info but don't be a tool, RTFM and exhaust your options first. By the time you work it out you may have your HDD password committed to memory. This is a good thing, YMMV.
This drive can in some cases be unlocked if the user password seems bad.
Drive is very quiet, 4200RPM but drive is very fast. Pulled from dead Dell D610 laptop, works well in any config. Good solid drive even though it's technically rebranded IBM. Keep a good eye on that heat though, may get warm under heavy load. |
