Drive locked perfectly first time, faster and quieter than either retail Xbox drive, and barely hotter. The only tiny problem is that the IDE connector is slightly further to the left, meaning the cable has to be bent minorly to fit under the stock Xbox lid, although without the metal shielding it's fine. It appears that the WD drives with the 00 suffix (eg. WD800JB-00*) lock fine, whereas some of the older drives with a numbered suffix (eg. WD800JB-75*) often have problems. All currently manufactured drives seem to be 00's however, the five I recently bought all are. |
