This is a very quiet drive. I had another Maxtor previously, and we could barely stand the high whine of the old drive's 7200 rpm.
This drive starts up without much noise at all, it's really a treat to have in the living room. Finally we can watch movies without the whine of the hard drive. Now to silence the fan ! FTP transfers on this 5400 RPM drive were COMPIRABLE with the 7200 drive I previously had. |
