Used a PATA to SATA adapter with a jumper built in. Also implemented an IDE 80 wire cable after looking into it (SATA Drives with adapter seem to need the faster transfer speed). Tried the jumper in several positions until I found a setting in which the Hard Drive was identifiable (down). Files were able to copy over just fine (albeit fairly slowly, probably the adapter). "Lock Hard Drive to Motherboard" option was chosen. Booting Xbox with this Hard Drive installed simply gave the hardware error code "07." The Jumper on the PATA to SATA adapter was then moved back to original position (up). Upon booting this time, the console loaded as intended. Partitioning using the included software only yielded a maximum of one quarter of its full capacity (one 500GB partition). Xbpartition was used successfully to take advantage of the full capacity (two 950 GB or so partitions).

Was a bit worried about the drive either not locking or not spinning up quickly enough, but neither of these were an issue. Didn't seem to be much data on these WD "Green Power" drives being used for this purpose. Somewhat surprising as they're low speed, low heat, and high capacity. Should prove ideal for a modded Xbox.

Hopefully this information helps. I didn't know too much about modifying a console before this, but I managed to figure it out along the way. Got a few more consoles to mod now. Good luck!
